Our next online Sackville Photography Club meeting is Wednesday, April 21st.
Wow, the end of April already! This week we have another great meeting planned and are more than pleased to be hosting Nova Scotia’s, DeeDee Morris, as our Guest Speaker with her presentation “Photography as Therapy and What it Means to be Seen“. There is power in seeing. There is empowerment in being seen. Photography has been used as a tool in therapy for many years. Images shown to help clients connect with emotions and storylines, the camera itself used as tool to get clients to capture and understand their world through a new lens. Have you considered that you’re job as a photographer can actually be therapy for your client? Because if done well, it is.” “You helped me move away from trying on cookie cutter perfection, and helped me remember all of who I am.” Such impactful words from a client!
As a heart-led photographer, DeeDee’s passion is to create images that resonate with the soul. She believes in the power of being seen and that our little moments, our every day moments, are the ones that matter most. Seeing yourself in those moments matters even more. Her images are never going to be tack sharp, perfect, airbrushed images, because life is never tack sharp, perfect or airbrushed. Her images reveal the shadows so you can see the light that is your life. Your beautiful life, in all of its raw and true.
Mark Klaamas will be presenting “Photoshop: Content Aware” in the second half . Ian Proctor will update Field Trips, Kevin Hall will update the Mentoring program, Chris Wheeler will provide details for our Annual Photo Contest and Chris Briand will take us through Club Business. A reminder images for the April Showcase: “Street Life” will be due Saturday, May 1st to firstname.lastname@example.org .
We look forward to you joining us online Wednesday, April 21st at 7pm from the comfort of your home. You don’t want to miss this!!!! The Zoom meeting invite will be posted as an EVENT in the Members Facebook group.
