Our next online Sackville Photography Club meeting is this Wednesday, February 17th.
February is half over and astrological spring (not necessarily spring weather) is less than 32 days away! Covid numbers in Nova Scotia are rolling back to levels where we were last summer, restrictions are easing again and vaccines are rolling into the province, things are looking more positive for reconnecting at in-person meetings hopefully by in September.
We are excited to be hosting Victoria, B.C.’s, Glenn Bartley, as our Guest Speaker with his presentation “Bird Photography Simplified”. We all know that bird photography can be difficult and daunting to the novice. In this presentation Glenn will share his approach to simplifying the process of bird photography while still striving for high quality wildlife images.
From equipment selection to field techniques to post processing Glenn will share his approach to bird photography.
Glenn Bartley is a world renowned professional nature photographer from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He focuses almost all of his efforts on capturing intimate images of birds in their natural habitat. Glenn is especially well known for his portraits of rare and difficult to photograph birds from the Neotropical Region and his portfolio of hummingbird images. Glenn’s images are well respected and represented around the world. He is an award winning photographer whose work is regularly featured in North American and International nature books, calendars and publications. Glenn’s work is regularly featured in magazines such as Audubon, Birdwatching, Canadian Wildlife, Birders World, and many more. His images regularly appear in books on birds including several by National Geographic. Glenn has also published several books of his own including “Birds of Ecuador”, “Birds of Vancouver Island” and “Birds of British Columbia” as well as instructional guides on Post Processing Flash and Tropical Nature Photography Techniques.
In the second half of the meeting Hugh Chisholm has the Bonus Showcase “Anything You Want” ready to roll and Peter Steeper is lined up to give us the how to’s and reasons why “Calibrating” is really important! Ian Proctor will provide an update on Field Trips, Kevin Hall will update the Mentoring program and Chris Briand will take us through Club Business.
