HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Our next online Sackville Photography Club meeting is this Wednesday, January 6th.
We think it is safe to say that we are all happy to see 2020 in our rear view mirror. It was a roller coaster of a year but we made it through and embraced the online world for our monthly meetings. We relatively quickly and seamlessly continued to bring our members together and offer up an interesting array of guest speakers, technical topics and showcases. As we continue on with our online presence for the foreseeable future, we are still enjoying the diverse “come from away” guest presenters we wouldn’t otherwise experience. So pour yourself a beverage, fill a plate with snacks, pull up a chair and get comfortable and we will do our best to bring you an entertaining and informative meeting.
We are thrilled to welcome Curtis Jones back as Guest Speaker to kick off 2021 at our upcoming meeting. Curtis’ presentation “Taking Advantage of Winter” takes us into his world of ice, snow and cold. After over a decade of creating images in some of the coldest climates on the planet Curtis doesn’t claim to have all the answers, but he still has all his fingers and toes. Join us in welcoming Curtis Jones for an introductory talk on the wonderful world of winter photography. He’ll cover tips, techniques, and examples from the field, all with the aim getting you through your winter shooting blues and back outside!
Curtis Jones: It takes a certain personality to appreciate the details of a climate rarely inhabited by people. Curtis Jones has spent most of his career saturating himself in the polar regions of the planet, dividing his residency between Newfoundland and Nunavut, Canada. Working for both the private and public sector, he has documented work for environmental initiatives, literacy, Canadian National Parks, climate change and tourism in the Canadian Arctic. Collaborating with world-class athletes, production teams, and local cultures and communities, he has built his career delivering a personal view of the raw, wild, and often untamed. His work has been seen in National Geographic Adventure, Canadian Geographic, The Globe and Mail, Huffington Post Canada and more. Between commercial clients, he is often seen leading photography workshops in the polar regions of the Earth, sharing his appreciation for adventure with others. A collector of interesting stories, Curtis is rarely seen far from a camera, tent, or a good punchline. http://www.curtisjonesphoto.com/
